Directions for Creating Skits
1. Pick your roles within your groups
- Director- Selects eight expression to be used in the 1920’s skit. Leads brainstorming
discussion on ideas for the 1920’s skit. Participates in skit.
- 1920’s Skit Writer(2-3 people)- Helps brainstorm ideas for the 1920’s skit. Writes
script for the skit and participates in the skit.
- Stage Manager- Helps brainstorm ideas for the skit. Lists and gathers any costumes,
prompts, and sound effects needed for the skit. Participates in the skit.
2. Examine slang expressions
- Carefully examine the eight slang expressions. Make sure all group members understand
the meaning of each expression. Ask the teacher to clarify the meaning of any expressions
of which you are uncertain.
3. Brainstorm ideas for the 1920’s skit
- You must create a two-to three-minute skit that brings to life a scene set in the
1920’s. Your skit must incorporate eight slang terms and make the audience feel as
if they have stepped back in time to the Roaring Twenties.
4. Create your skit
- Have the Skit Writer create a script for the skit. Ask your teacher to review it
and give you feedback. Carefully incorporate your teacher’s feedback, and make sure
all group members have a copy of their lines.
5. Incorporate authentic touches
- List, make, and gather props, costumes, music, and/or sound effects to make your
skit as authentic and entertaining as possible.
6. Rehearse the skits
- Make sure all group members understand their parts and can clearly and dramatically
recite their lines. Rehearse your skit several times s your can present them smoothly
and clearly.
